Broward Education Foundation hosts 29th annual Innovative Teacher IDEA Expo bringing together hundreds of educators from across Broward County

Broward County, Florida – Broward County educators gathered recently for an inspiring showcase of creativity and innovation in teaching, as the Broward Education Foundation hosted the Broward Teachers Union’s 29th Annual Innovative Teacher IDEA EXPO. The event brought together over 300 attendees who explored dynamic classroom strategies and learned how to implement them in their own schools.

The IDEA EXPO highlighted the work of more than 35 grant-winning teachers who shared projects designed to enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes across Broward County Public Schools (BCPS). Each project on display provided attendees with extensive resources, including course outlines, lesson plans, student worksheets, and other tools that could be adapted to different classrooms.

“Attendees were able to see firsthand the creativity and dedication of their peers while gaining access to materials that will directly benefit their students,” a spokesperson for the Broward Education Foundation said. The Expo is structured to encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing, helping teachers adopt successful strategies from fellow educators to enrich their own instruction.

The Broward Education Foundation supports innovative teaching through monetary grants that recognize educators who design engaging and effective classroom programs. Funding for these grants comes from public-private partnerships, contributions from business and community leaders, and donors to the Education First Employee Giving Campaign. Teachers who wish to adapt existing award-winning projects can apply for Adapter Grants, which not only help bring proven programs into new classrooms but also allow recipients to earn 10 in-service points.

The Expo also brought together a wide range of partners who support innovative education. Alongside the Broward Teachers Union, sponsors included the State of Florida District Education Foundation’s matching grants program, BrightStar Credit Union, Broward Area STEM Ecosystem, City of Hollywood, JM Family Enterprises, American College of Education, Carnegie Learning, Florida Gulf Coast University, Fort Lauderdale High School, Grand Canyon University, NTA Life, STU Online, University of West Florida, Wahoo Bay, and Broward County Public Schools itself.

The event was more than a display of creative lesson plans; it was a celebration of the collaborative effort between teachers, schools, businesses, and the community. “Our goal is to empower educators with resources, support, and inspiration to transform classrooms into spaces where students thrive,” the spokesperson added.

Teachers left the IDEA EXPO with new ideas and actionable strategies to implement in their own classrooms.
