Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Holy Cross Health is marking a major milestone in its long history of care with a large expansion project in South Florida, combining celebration, growth, and a new model of community-based emergency and outpatient services.

On Friday, May 8, the health system will officially open its new Holy Cross Health Center & Emergency Care facility in Deerfield Beach, a $41 million investment designed to bring faster and more accessible care closer to residents. The opening also coincides with the organization’s 70th year of service, adding symbolic weight to the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The event will take place at 340 South Federal Highway, where leaders, staff, and local officials will gather for a structured program that includes remarks, a proclamation from the city, and guided tours of the new facility. Media arrival begins at 12:00 p.m., followed by official proceedings from 12:25 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., and interviews and tours scheduled until 2:00 p.m.

The new center represents a shift in how emergency and outpatient care is delivered in the region. As Holy Cross Health’s first freestanding emergency department paired with an outpatient health center, the facility is designed to handle both urgent medical needs and ongoing care services in one location.

Inside the 25,000-square-foot building, patients will find a full emergency department, diagnostic imaging services including a CT scanner, an on-site laboratory, and multispecialty outpatient clinics. The layout is intended to reduce delays and improve coordination between emergency treatment and follow-up care.

Hospital leadership says the project reflects both community growth and changing healthcare demands in South Florida. The expansion aims to reduce strain on traditional hospital emergency rooms while giving patients faster access to testing, diagnosis, and treatment in a more localized setting.

Several key figures from Holy Cross Health will be available during the event, including Pierre Monice, Evelyn Clark-Kula, and John Cunha. Also participating are Maggie Perez-Dickens, along with onsite providers Audrey Liu and Aneesa Allie.

During the ceremony, officials from the City of Deerfield Beach are expected to present a formal proclamation recognizing both the opening of the facility and the health system’s decades-long role in regional care.

Visual highlights of the day will include the exterior of the new modern building, ribbon cutting moments, emergency department rooms, the imaging suite, laboratory space, and outpatient clinics. These areas will be open for guided tours, giving guests a closer look at how the facility is structured to support both emergency and routine medical needs.

Parking for the event will be available at the Saint Ambrose Catholic Church lot next to the facility, with organizers encouraging attendees to plan ahead due to expected interest from community members and media.

More information about the expansion and services can be found through the organization’s website at holy-cross.com/deerfield.

For Holy Cross Health, the opening is more than a construction milestone. It represents seven decades of medical service evolving into a new phase, where expanded access, modern equipment, and integrated care are brought together under one roof for the growing Deerfield Beach community.
