West Palm Beach, Florida – Several major public facilities in West Palm Beach will temporarily close as the city prepares for Independence Day observances and one of its most popular summer traditions. Officials confirmed that City Hall, the Mandel Public Library, and the Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center will all be closed on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, 2026, as the city marks the holiday weekend.

The closures are part of the city’s standard holiday schedule, giving employees time off while also aligning with reduced public service demand during the Independence Day period. Despite the temporary shutdown of key buildings, officials emphasized that essential services will continue operating normally for residents.

One of the most important services—trash and garbage collection—will not be disrupted. The city confirmed that regular pickup schedules will continue as usual throughout the holiday period, ensuring that neighborhoods remain serviced without interruption even as administrative offices pause operations.

Facility reopenings will occur in stages following the holiday weekend. The Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center is set to welcome visitors again at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, while the Mandel Public Library will reopen later that same day at 1 p.m. City Hall will resume operations slightly later, reopening at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 6.

At the same time, the city is preparing for one of its signature summer celebrations, the annual 4th on Flagler event. Scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, the celebration will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is expected to draw large crowds to the downtown waterfront area.

The event has become a staple of West Palm Beach’s holiday calendar, offering a mix of entertainment and community-focused activities along the Intracoastal Waterway. This year’s program will include live music performances, family-friendly attractions, and a wide selection of food and beverage vendors designed to accommodate attendees of all ages.

A major highlight of the evening will be The Florida Crystals high energy laser show, which will be synchronized with an 18-minute fireworks display lighting up the waterfront sky.
