Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The City of Fort Lauderdale is moving forward with a major infrastructure improvement project designed to strengthen the city’s wastewater system and improve long-term reliability. The Sanitary Sewer Force Main Rehabilitation and Replacement Project is underway as the city works with Lanzo Construction Company to upgrade aging sewer pipelines across a large section of the community.

The project will focus on approximately 23,370 feet of large sanitary sewer pipelines stretching from Sunrise Boulevard to the George T. Lohmeyer Wastewater Treatment Plant. Officials say the work is necessary to enhance the capacity, reliability, and environmental safety of Fort Lauderdale’s wastewater network.

Sanitary sewer force mains play an important role in moving wastewater through the city’s system. By rehabilitating and replacing sections of these critical pipelines, the project aims to reduce the risk of future failures while ensuring the infrastructure can continue supporting the needs of a growing community.

Construction activities are generally scheduled to take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. However, officials noted that work schedules may change depending on weather conditions or other unexpected circumstances that could affect construction operations.

During the project, residents and drivers may notice construction crews working in different areas along the pipeline route. Traffic control personnel will be present when needed to help manage vehicles and maintain safety around active work zones.

The City of Fort Lauderdale is asking residents and visitors to remain cautious while traveling near construction areas. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted signs, pay attention to traffic directions, and allow extra time when traveling through areas affected by the project.

City officials acknowledged that large infrastructure improvements can create temporary inconveniences for nearby residents and businesses. However, they emphasized that the upgrades are important investments that will provide long-term benefits for the city’s wastewater system.

“We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this important infrastructure improvement,” officials said.

Residents who have questions, concerns, or need additional information about the project can contact the dedicated project hotline or email support team. The city has provided these communication options to help keep the community informed throughout the construction process.

The project hotline is available at 1-800-214-4095, while residents can also reach the project team by email at [email protected].

As work continues, Fort Lauderdale officials are encouraging the public to stay informed and cooperate with construction crews. Once completed, the sewer rehabilitation and replacement effort is expected to provide a stronger and more dependable wastewater system while helping protect the city’s environment for years to come.
