Broward County Public Schools prepares to welcome students back for the 2026/27 school year

Broward County, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is preparing to welcome thousands of students back to classrooms as the district gets ready for the first day of the 2026/27 school year on Monday, August 10, 2026.

After months of summer preparation, schools and district departments have completed work aimed at creating safe, supportive and engaging learning environments for students across Broward County. Officials said the focus remains on helping every student begin the new academic year with the tools, resources and opportunities needed for success.

Teachers, administrators and staff members have spent the summer organizing classrooms, preparing lessons and making sure campuses are ready for the return of students. To celebrate the start of the new school year, BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn will visit schools throughout Broward County on the first day. The new school year will continue several district initiatives focused on improving student outcomes. These efforts include expanded academic opportunities, stronger safety and security measures, innovative career and technical education programs and additional support services designed to help students succeed.
