Pompano Beach man accused of locking six dogs inside wooden cage without food or water

Pompano Beach, Florida – A Pompano Beach man is facing six animal cruelty charges after deputies said they found six dogs locked inside a wooden cage at a home without food or water.

Christopher Brayboy, 56, was arrested Monday after the Broward Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip about the animals. According to deputies, the dogs were being kept inside the cage at the residence, prompting investigators to respond to the property.

The case began with the anonymous report that six dogs were confined in the cage. When deputies arrived, they encountered Brayboy at the home. An arrest report said deputies saw him looking through the mail before he left through an exit of the residence. He was then detained by deputies.

During questioning, Brayboy told investigators that he had been evicted from the home on Aug. 7. He said he continued going back to the property to care for the dogs, including feeding them and giving them water, according to the arrest report.

Brayboy was taken to the Pompano Beach District Office while deputies continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the animals and their living conditions.

Investigators also spoke with the homeowner, Henry Brayboy. According to the arrest report, Henry told deputies that he was aware the dogs were at the property and said he would visit the home every couple of days to provide them with food and water.

Henry also told investigators that he had instructed Christopher to remove the dogs from the home. Despite that request, Christopher allegedly did not take the animals away.

The report said Henry allowed Christopher to continue entering the backyard even after Christopher had been evicted from the property. The permission was given so Christopher could care for the dogs, according to the report.

The circumstances described by deputies raised concerns about the animals’ care and the conditions in which they were being kept. The six dogs were reportedly confined together in the wooden cage at the residence.

Brayboy was ultimately charged with six counts of animal cruelty, one count for each dog. The charges follow the deputies’ investigation into the condition of the animals and the circumstances surrounding their confinement.

The case highlights the legal responsibilities that come with caring for animals, particularly when a person is no longer living at a property where the animals remain. While Brayboy told deputies that he had been returning to provide food and water, investigators continued to examine the conditions reported at the home.

According to the arrest report, the homeowner was also aware that the dogs remained at the residence and had allowed Brayboy access to the backyard after his eviction so he could care for them.

The investigation and criminal case will now proceed through the legal system. The allegations against Brayboy have not been proven in court, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
