Weston invites residents to be mayor for a moment at City Hall

Weston, Florida – Weston residents will have a chance to see the Commission Chamber from the mayor’s seat when City Hall opens its doors for “Mayor for a Moment” on October 26.

The event runs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Weston City Hall and is being held during Florida City Government Week. Residents of all ages are invited to meet the mayor, take a seat on the Commission dais and leave with a photograph of their visit.

There is no charge to participate, and no appointment is necessary. The activity is designed to be quick, allowing residents to stop by during the two-hour window without scheduling a visit in advance.

Participants should bring a phone or camera. City staff will use it to take a picture of each visitor or family with the mayor on the dais, providing a keepsake of the occasion.

For those who have wondered what the room looks like from the seat occupied by the city’s mayor, the gathering offers an opportunity to find out firsthand. Instead of viewing the dais from elsewhere in the chamber, visitors can briefly experience the room from a different perspective.

Families can join in together, and the invitation extends to both children and adults. Whether someone wants an individual photograph or a picture with family members, staff will be available to capture the moment.

The event pairs a meeting with the mayor with a lighthearted invitation to step into the role, at least long enough for a photo. As the city’s announcement puts it, “All ages are welcome. No campaigning required. Just bring your best mayoral smile!”

Residents interested in taking part can visit Weston City Hall anytime between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. on October 26. A phone or camera is the item to remember for anyone hoping to take home a photograph from their brief turn in the mayor’s seat.
