Major asphalt improvement project set to begin on N. Andrews Avenue, impacting traffic and paving the way for smoother roadways

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The City of Fort Lauderdale is continuing its efforts to improve local infrastructure with a significant resurfacing project on N. Andrews Avenue. Originally scheduled for late July, the asphalt improvement work has been rescheduled and will now take place on Monday, August 4, and Tuesday, August 5, 2025, with a completion target of Wednesday, August 6, 2025. This project, which involves resurfacing the road and applying new pavement markings, is expected to enhance the quality of the roadway from W./E. Broward Boulevard to NW/NE 1st Street in Flagler Village.
The construction will occur overnight, starting at 8 p.m. and wrapping up by 6 a.m. the following morning. These nighttime hours are designed to minimize disruption to daytime traffic while allowing the work to proceed efficiently. However, the schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions or other unforeseen factors. Residents and commuters in the area are advised to stay informed and prepared for any changes that might arise due to these circumstances.
During the construction, N. Andrews Avenue will be closed overnight between W./E. Broward Boulevard and NW/NE 1st Street. Southbound traffic will be detoured to NW 1st Avenue, while northbound traffic will be rerouted to NE 3rd Avenue. Although the road closures will affect vehicle traffic, pedestrian access will remain open, with sidewalks in the area unaffected by the construction.
“Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area,” the City of Fort Lauderdale urges in a public advisory. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes and be patient as crews work to improve this important part of the city’s road network. The project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance road conditions throughout Fort Lauderdale, ensuring better safety and smoother commutes for everyone.
City officials also acknowledge the inconvenience that such projects can cause to residents and drivers and have expressed gratitude for the public’s understanding. “We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during construction,” said the advisory.
Jean Examond, Senior Project Manager for the City of Fort Lauderdale, is the primary contact for anyone seeking further information about the project. She can be reached at 954-828-4507 or via email at [email protected]. For general inquiries, the City of Fort Lauderdale Customer Service Center is available at 954-828-8000 or [email protected].
As the project progresses, the city is committed to keeping the public informed and ensuring minimal disruption. With the resurfacing and updated markings, the improvement of N. Andrews Avenue will significantly benefit both drivers and pedestrians, enhancing the overall safety and functionality of this key roadway in Flagler Village.
