Oakland Park, Florida – The Broward Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a 71-year-old man who has gone missing from the Oakland Park area. Detectives with the BSO Missing Persons Unit are working to find Carl Bredel, who was last seen on Wednesday, July 30.

According to investigators, Bredel was spotted near the 1300 block of South Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach before his disappearance. That was the last confirmed sighting of him, and there has been no contact since.

Authorities describe Bredel as being 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He has grey hair and hazel eyes. At the time he was last seen, Bredel was reportedly wearing a grey shirt, black pants, a grey hat, and white shoes.

Detectives say they are actively following up on leads and reviewing any surveillance footage available in the area where Bredel was last seen. The department has not shared whether Bredel suffers from any medical conditions, but officials emphasize that time is critical in missing persons cases, especially involving older adults.

“Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact BSO Det. Chris Blankenship at 954-321-4268 or at the BSO non-emergency number at 954-764-HELP (4357),” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Bredel’s disappearance has raised concern among local residents and law enforcement alike. As the search continues, BSO is urging members of the public who may have seen Bredel or have any information, no matter how small, to come forward.

The community is also encouraged to keep an eye out in surrounding neighborhoods, parks, public transit stations, and other public areas where Bredel may have traveled on foot.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
