Boca Raton, Florida – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has named Albert J. Cacace to the Governing Board of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA), marking a new chapter in the state’s ongoing push to strengthen regional transit oversight with experienced and accomplished leadership.

The appointment was made official in a press release issued by the Governor’s Office earlier this week, and it places Cacace, a seasoned technology executive and U.S. Army veteran, alongside returning board members Carlos A. Penin, P.E., and former State Senator James A. Scott, both of whom were reappointed to continue their service.

Cacace brings with him a rich background in engineering, private investigation, security services, and public service. As the Founder and Managing Partner of the R30 Agency, a firm specializing in investigative and security operations, he has spent the last decade delivering services ranging from identity fraud prevention to executive protection.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Cacace served in South Korea as a cryptography specialist with Top Secret clearance. His early civilian career was rooted in high-tech development, beginning in the 1980s with Systems Engineering Laboratories, which later became Gould Computer Systems. There, he helped design computer circuits for what was then the cutting edge of real-time computing.

His decades-long journey through technology and operations led him into consulting work in the early 2000s. Between 2001 and 2019, Cacace guided both private companies and government bodies through complex technical programs, offering both strategic direction and hands-on management of key initiatives.

“Albert Cacace has spent his career blending high-level technical expertise with a deep commitment to service,” Governor DeSantis said in the announcement. “He is uniquely equipped to contribute meaningfully to the work of the SFRTA.”

Cacace’s service-minded outlook extends far beyond his professional ventures. He currently holds memberships in the International Intelligence Network and the World Association of Detectives, and he previously served as an Area Director for the Florida Association of Private Investigators. His resume also includes board service with the Project Management Institute’s South Florida Chapter and a trustee role at a private school in Lauderhill during the early 1980s.

He earned his M.B.A. in Information Systems from Aspen University in 2005 and received national recognition the following year with the Distance Education Accrediting Commission’s Outstanding Graduate Award.

Cacace, who resides in Boca Raton with his wife, is also a family man. The couple has two sons and four grandchildren. Despite his long list of technical and operational achievements, those who know him say his dedication to family and community remains his greatest strength.

This appointment adds another seasoned voice to the SFRTA board as it continues to address the growing challenges of public transit in one of the state’s most densely populated regions. The Authority is responsible for coordinating and improving transportation systems in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties—a task that requires not only operational expertise but also a firm understanding of evolving regional needs.

Cacace’s diverse experience across multiple sectors is expected to bring a pragmatic, results-oriented perspective to the board’s decision-making process.

With transit issues continuing to impact millions across South Florida, the inclusion of a leader with Cacace’s background could help push the region toward more efficient and secure mobility solutions.
