Soulful Sundays brings live music cultural celebration and community connection to the Ali Cultural Arts Center in Pompano Beach
Pompano Beach, Florida – Music, culture, and community come together each month in Ali Cultural Arts Center, where Soulful Sundays has become one of the city’s most vibrant recurring live entertainment events.
Held on the second Sunday of every month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the series transforms the historic venue into a gathering place filled with live music, conversation, and celebration. For residents and visitors alike, the event offers more than just a concert. It creates an atmosphere rooted in connection, creativity, and appreciation for African-American culture and artistic expression.
Located in the heart of Pompano Beach, the Ali Cultural Arts Center provides a setting that many attendees say adds emotional depth to the performances themselves. The historic venue has long served as a cultural landmark in the community, and during Soulful Sundays, its intimate space becomes alive with soulful melodies, rhythmic grooves, and an audience eager to experience live music up close.
Organizers have designed the series to remain both affordable and accessible. Tickets are priced at $10, giving music lovers an opportunity to enjoy high-quality performances without the high cost often associated with live entertainment events. Because seating is limited, guests are encouraged to reserve tickets ahead of time through Eventbrite. No tickets are sold at the door.
For groups hoping to make the evening more social, table reservations for four people are available near the front of the venue, allowing guests to enjoy the performances together while remaining close to the stage.
At the center of Soulful Sundays is its rotating lineup of performers from across South Florida. Each month introduces audiences to different artists and musical styles, helping the series maintain a fresh and energetic identity throughout the year.
The performances cover a broad range of genres deeply connected to soul and rhythm-based music. Audiences can expect everything from classic R&B and smooth soul to blues, jazz, funk, and neo-soul influences. Some evenings lean into mellow vocals and emotional storytelling, while others bring high-energy performances that turn the room into a dance-filled celebration.
The variety has become one of the event’s strongest draws. No two nights feel exactly alike.
Organizers say the goal is to create an experience where audiences do more than simply hear music. The event encourages guests to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere — to feel the rhythm, connect with the performers, and share the moment with the surrounding community.
The concert series continues throughout much of the year, though organizers confirmed there will not be a performance in May. Activities resume in June with The Larry Dogg Band, a group recognized for soulful performances and tributes to iconic acts including The Gap Band and The Isley Brothers.
Additional performances scheduled later in the year include appearances by Ronnie V in July, The Valerie Tyson in September, and The Derek Band in November.
Each artist brings a distinct sound and stage presence, ensuring that returning audiences continue discovering new interpretations of soul-inspired music.
But Soulful Sundays is not centered solely on entertainment. Food, conversation, and shared cultural appreciation also play a major role in the evening’s appeal. Guests gather not only to watch performances but to reconnect with friends, meet new people, and celebrate the artistic traditions that continue shaping the local community.
That sense of togetherness has helped the event establish a loyal following in Pompano Beach and surrounding areas. In a time when many people search for meaningful in-person experiences, Soulful Sundays offers an environment where live music becomes a bridge between generations, backgrounds, and cultures.
The setting itself reinforces that mission. The Ali Cultural Arts Center has long represented a place where local history, creativity, and cultural storytelling intersect. Hosting an event centered on soul music and community engagement aligns naturally with the venue’s broader purpose.
For many attendees, the evening becomes more than just another item on the entertainment calendar. It becomes an opportunity to pause, listen, celebrate, and reconnect through music.
As the series continues throughout the year, organizers hope Soulful Sundays will keep serving as both a showcase for regional talent and a reminder of the power music holds in bringing people together.
