City announces temporary suspension of local business tax receipt and vacation rental services affecting residents and property owners for one full week

Plantation, Florida – Residents and business owners in Plantation will need to plan ahead as city services related to Local Business Tax Receipts and vacation rental applications will temporarily pause for one week at the end of May and beginning of June.

The City of Plantation announced that staff handling these services will not be available for inquiries, questions, or application processing from Monday, May 25, 2026 through Monday, June 1, 2026. During this period, both routine requests and new submissions will not be processed.

Officials noted that normal operations will resume on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. On that same day, in-person customer service will also restart, with office hours scheduled between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., restoring direct access for residents and business operators who need assistance.

The temporary suspension affects two key administrative services: Local Business Tax Receipts and vacation rental applications. These functions are commonly used by local entrepreneurs, property owners, and short-term rental operators who rely on timely approvals and renewals to remain in compliance with city regulations.

Although staff will not be available during the closure window, the city is encouraging residents not to delay communication entirely. Messages can still be left for review once operations resume. The city has provided multiple contact options, including phone and email support.

Residents may leave voice messages at (954) 797-2225, or send written inquiries to [email protected] or [email protected]. According to the announcement, all messages will be addressed after staff return to regular operations.

While short pauses in administrative services are not uncommon, the timing requires some adjustment for business owners preparing applications or managing renewal deadlines. City officials have emphasized that the interruption is temporary and part of scheduled operational planning.

For many small business operators, the Local Business Tax Receipt process is an essential step in maintaining legal operation within the city. Similarly, vacation rental approvals remain a critical requirement for property owners participating in the short-term rental market.

Once services resume, officials expect a return to normal processing times and in-person support at city offices. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, especially if their applications or renewals fall near the affected dates.

Even with the brief interruption, the city aims to ensure continuity by maintaining communication channels and preparing staff to handle a standard workload immediately upon reopening.

The notice serves as a reminder of the importance of timing when dealing with municipal processes, especially for businesses and property owners who depend on steady administrative support throughout the year.
