Fort Lauderdale launches major sanitary sewer force main rehabilitation project

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The City of Fort Lauderdale is moving forward with a major infrastructure improvement project designed to strengthen the city’s wastewater system and improve long-term reliability. The Sanitary Sewer Force Main Rehabilitation and Replacement Project is underway as the city works with Lanzo Construction Company to upgrade aging sewer pipelines across a large section of the community.

The project will focus on approximately 23,370 feet of large sanitary sewer pipelines stretching from Sunrise Boulevard to the George T. Lohmeyer Wastewater Treatment Plant. Officials say the work is necessary to enhance the capacity, reliability, and environmental safety of Fort Lauderdale’s wastewater network.

Sanitary sewer force mains play an important role in moving wastewater through the city’s system. By rehabilitating and replacing sections of these critical pipelines, the project aims to reduce the risk of future failures while ensuring the infrastructure can continue supporting the needs of a growing community.

Construction activities are generally scheduled to take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. However, officials noted that work schedules may change depending on weather conditions or other unexpected circumstances that could affect construction operations.
