Pompano Beach Cultural Center announces packed 2026–2027 season of live theater and concerts
Pompano Beach, Florida – The Pompano Beach Cultural Center is preparing for a new season of live entertainment that will bring music, theater, comedy and tributes to the stage from September 2026 through August 2027. The lineup is broad, moving from classic rock and country to Broadway-inspired productions, musical comedies and performances celebrating some of the most recognizable names in popular music.
The 2026–2027 schedule is designed to appeal to audiences with different tastes and generations. Some productions look back at the music of earlier decades, while others bring new theatrical stories and contemporary humor to the stage. Together, the performances create a season built around familiar songs, live musicians, comedy and theatrical storytelling.
The season gets an early start with School Girls, or The African Mean Girls Play, running September 4 through September 27, 2026. Set in Ghana in 1986, the South Florida premiere follows a group of high school girls competing for the title of Miss Ghana. Beneath the humor, the production explores issues including colorism, classism, beauty standards and the pressures faced by teenagers.
Music takes over the calendar in October, beginning with Michael Jackson Tribute MJ Lives on October 3. The production will bring Michael Jackson’s music to the stage through a multimedia performance featuring a live band, choreography and visual effects. The show is built around the songs and career of one of pop music’s most recognizable performers.
A week later, Beyond The Beatles arrives on October 9. Rather than focusing only on the Beatles as a group, the concert celebrates the solo careers of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Audience-selected songs will be part of the performance, alongside music associated with the Beatles era.
The month continues with The Wilburys, A Traveling Tribute on October 23. The show celebrates the Traveling Wilburys and the music connected to Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne. It is followed two days later by December ’63: Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons Tribute, scheduled for October 25, offering a nostalgic evening centered on the group’s well-known harmonies and hits.
November brings a mix of theater and music. Pompano Players Presents: Gutenberg! The Musical! runs November 6 through November 15. The comedy follows two aspiring writers as they attempt to pitch a wildly inaccurate Broadway musical about the invention of the printing press. The production combines exaggerated storytelling, songs and comedy.
On November 20, Hot Brass: A Tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago will combine the sounds of rock, funk and brass. The performance is built around the music of two major groups whose catalogs have remained popular across generations.
Comedy and nostalgia then take center stage with The Spaghetti & Matzo Ball Show on November 22. The production brings together comedy, music and old-school Vegas-style entertainment, following two longtime friends as they deliver songs, jokes and nostalgic material.
December’s featured performance is Turnstiles: The Ultimate Tribute to Billy Joel on December 18. The tribute aims to recreate the atmosphere of a Billy Joel concert while performing songs from the artist’s extensive catalog.
The schedule continues into 2027 with Forbidden Love: The Love Story of Bobby Darin & Connie Francis on January 9. The production tells the story of the relationship between the two music stars through a combination of theater and their best-known songs.
The Pompano Players return January 15 through January 24 with Never Can Say Goodbye – A 70s Beehive Musical. The production travels back to the 1970s, using music and the style of the disco era to tell its story. The decade’s pop culture, fashion and music provide the backdrop.
Classic rock follows on January 29 with One of These Nights: The Eagles Tribute. The concert will focus on the Eagles’ familiar songs and harmonies, offering fans an evening centered on one of America’s best-known rock bands.
February brings a particularly busy stretch of performances. Daybreak: The Music and Passion of Barry is scheduled for February 6 and celebrates Barry Manilow’s music with an eight-piece ensemble. Pompano Players Presents: My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra follows from February 12 through February 21, featuring more than 50 songs associated with Sinatra.
On February 24, The Edwards Twins will bring impersonations, music and comedy to the stage in a Las Vegas-style variety performance. Two days later, Tapestry: A Carole King Songbook will celebrate Carole King’s music, including songs from the iconic Tapestry album.
The month concludes with The Olivia Show on February 28. The performance honors Olivia Newton-John through songs connected to her music career and films.
March continues the musical tribute theme with The Tony Bennett Songbook Starring Chris Pinnella on March 5. The performance will feature music from Bennett’s extensive catalog and classic standards.
The Pompano Players then present Sh-Boom! Life Could Be a Dream from March 12 through March 21. The musical comedy follows a young singing group hoping to make it in the music business, with doo-wop harmonies, romance and classic songs shaping the production.
Comedy returns March 26 with Funny Women of a Certain Age. The show features stand-up comedians whose material focuses on humor, life experience and the realities of getting older.
April opens with another Pompano Players production, Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrews Sisters, running April 2 through April 11. The musical looks at the rise of the Andrews Sisters and includes swing-era songs as well as stories from their careers.
Country music becomes more prominent as the season moves toward summer. Honky Tonk Man – A Tribute to Dwight Yoakam is scheduled for April 30, offering a tribute to the country singer’s honky-tonk sound and style.
On May 8, Neon Circus will celebrate Brooks & Dunn with a country-focused tribute featuring their familiar hits and concert energy. The Pompano Players follow with Honky Tonk Angels, running May 14 through May 23. The musical centers on three women traveling to Nashville and mixes humor, friendship and country music.
May’s final featured event is Her Name Is Barbra on May 30. The tribute celebrates Barbra Streisand’s long career and includes music associated with Broadway, film and her concert performances.
The summer schedule shifts toward major rock acts. Queen Lives! arrives July 9, recreating the sound and excitement of a Queen concert through vocals, performances and the band’s famous rock anthems.
On July 18, The Steely Dan Project – Let’s Do It Again will bring the music of Steely Dan to the Cultural Center. The performance features South Florida musicians performing the band’s distinctive combination of jazz and rock.

The season concludes August 6 with Brothers Again: A Celebration of the Allman Brothers. The concert will feature Southern rock songs, guitar work and performances honoring the legacy of The Allman Brothers Band.
Taken together, the schedule offers a season built around recognizable music and live performance. There are productions for fans of classic rock, pop, country, jazz-rock and Broadway, along with comedy shows and theatrical productions that move beyond music.
The lineup also gives audiences several opportunities to see local theater through the Pompano Players productions, while the tribute concerts cover artists whose music has remained part of American popular culture for decades.
With performances spread across nearly an entire year, the Pompano Beach Cultural Center’s 2026–2027 season offers a steady rotation of entertainment rather than concentrating its programming into only a few months. From a story set in 1980s Ghana to tributes to Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Sinatra, Queen, the Allman Brothers and many others, the schedule brings together a wide range of performers and musical eras.
For audiences in Pompano Beach and throughout South Florida, the new season is set to provide plenty of opportunities to hear familiar songs, discover theatrical productions and enjoy live entertainment in a local venue. The first production, School Girls, or The African Mean Girls Play, begins in September, with the concert and theater schedule continuing through August 2027.
