Davie, Florida – Davie residents have another opportunity to bring home a free fruit or native tree after the town extended its Tree Giveaway event. The program supports Davie’s ongoing sustainability and community beautification efforts.

Distribution will take place Thursday, October 15, 2026, during two pickup windows, from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Participation is limited to Davie residents, with one tree available per household while supplies last.

Residents must register in advance and select their preferred species before pickup. Completing those steps is required to participate, and registered attendees will receive notification of the exact collection location.

The available selection includes American Beautyberry, Tropical Sage, Simpson’s Stopper, and Jamaican Caper. Residents interested in fruit trees can choose from citrus varieties, specifically lemon or lime, as well as avocado and mango.

Residents who already received a tree during Gardens Matter Day may register again to receive a second tree. They should complete the regular registration form to take part in the extended giveaway.

Registration is also available through www.davie-fl.gov/FreeTree. Participants must bring proof of Davie residency, such as a utility bill, TRIM notice, or another government-issued ID. Staff will verify pre-registration before distributing trees.

Pickup will use a drive-through arrangement. Once approved, participants can proceed through the designated area, where staff will load the tree directly into their vehicle. Drivers will not need to park or get out of their cars.

Residents should clear enough space in their vehicles before arriving. Most selections will come in 3-gallon pots, while tropical sage will be provided in a 1-gallon pot. The height and size of individual trees may vary.

After pickup, residents can consult UF/IFAS guidance on planting and establishing trees for practical information about planting and care.

Additional details are available in the Town of Davie’s announcement. For questions about the giveaway, contact Leona Henry at 954-797-1035 or [email protected].
