Palm Beach County resident celebrates $1 million win from Florida Lottery’s $1,000,000 a year for life Spectacular Scratch-Off game

Tallahassee, Florida – A Palm Beach County resident is celebrating a life-changing windfall after winning a $1 million prize from the Florida Lottery’s $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR Scratch-Off game. Keith Leighton, of Highland Beach, claimed his prize at the Lottery’s West Palm Beach District Office, opting for a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.

Leighton purchased his lucky ticket at Publix, located at 1538 South Federal Highway in Delray Beach. As a reward for selling the winning ticket, the retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission.

The $50 Scratch-Off game, $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR, offers two grand prizes of $1 million per year for life, along with 234 prizes of $1 million. The game is packed with over $1.6 billion in cash prizes, and players have an overall 1-in-4.50 chance of winning a prize.

Scratch-Off Games Drive Lottery Success

Scratch-off games continue to be a major draw for Florida Lottery players, making up approximately 74 percent of ticket sales for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Since the introduction of these games, the Florida Lottery has awarded over $65.5 billion in prizes, created 2,283 millionaires, and generated more than $19.8 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).

Florida Lottery’s Impact on Education

The Florida Lottery plays a significant role in supporting education across the state. Since its inception, it has contributed over $48 billion toward enhancing education, including funding over one million students through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Lottery reinvests 99 percent of its revenue into Florida’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to retailers, and transfers to education.
