North Lauderdale community shaken after BSO confirms deadly early morning stabbing that left one victim deceased

North Lauderdale, Florida – A deadly stabbing in the early hours of Saturday morning has led to a homicide investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), following a violent incident that left one woman dead and another fighting for her life.
According to the BSO, the incident occurred at around 1:50 a.m. on April 12 in the 1800 block of Runners Way in North Lauderdale. Deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to the scene after receiving a call from Broward County Regional Communications about a reported stabbing.
When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered two adult women with serious stab wounds. Both victims were quickly transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, one of the women, identified as Maguy Pouye, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The second victim, Isabelle Joseph, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Authorities say the attacker fled the scene before law enforcement could arrive. Detectives from BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units were immediately called in to investigate.
Through their investigation, detectives identified 36-year-old Vital Joseph as the primary suspect. According to BSO, Joseph had previously lived at the residence and had once been in a relationship with Pouye, the woman who was killed in the attack.
By late Saturday night, the search for Joseph ended when he was located and arrested by the Palm Bay Police Department. The arrest was made with help from the Florida Highway Patrol. Joseph was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Brevard County Jail.
He now faces multiple serious charges, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and burglary of a dwelling with a battery.
“The subject fled the scene. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to investigate the incident,” officials said in a statement.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and investigators have not yet released additional details about the events leading up to the stabbing. However, they have confirmed that Joseph was known to the victims, and the attack was not believed to be random.

More updates are expected as the investigation moves forward.
