City of West Palm Beach announces that the precautionary boil water advisory has officially been lifted following safety tests

West Palm Beach, Florida – After several days of caution, the City of West Palm Beach has officially lifted the Precautionary Boil Water Advisory that was put in place on May 19, 2025. The advisory had affected an area stretching from Parker Avenue to Dreher Park, between Summit Boulevard and Southern Boulevard.

City officials announced on May 23 that bacteriological testing of the water supply confirmed it is now safe for consumption. The precaution was taken after a disruption in service required emergency repairs to the water system. As per standard safety procedures, samples were collected and tested to ensure there was no contamination.

City crews moved quickly to complete the necessary repairs. “We thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this precautionary measure. The City remains committed to ensuring the continued health and safety of our water system,” the City shared in its public statement.

Though the boil water notice has ended, some work is still ongoing. Parker Avenue, between Summit Boulevard and Selkirk Street, remains closed as repair operations continue. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes until the roadway is fully reopened.

The initial advisory was a preventive step to safeguard public health. During such events, residents are typically asked to boil water for cooking, drinking, and brushing teeth to eliminate the risk of bacteria or other harmful agents entering the water system during maintenance.

With the water system now cleared, households and businesses in the affected zone can return to normal water usage without the need for boiling. City officials have emphasized that they will continue routine monitoring to ensure the system remains reliable and safe.

Residents with further questions are encouraged to contact the City of West Palm Beach Public Utilities Department or visit the city’s website for updates on ongoing roadwork and infrastructure improvements.
