Oakland Park honors outstanding students in the Student of the Quarter program

Oakland Park, Florida – The City of Oakland Park is excited to continue its long-standing tradition of recognizing outstanding young leaders through the Student of the Quarter program. This initiative, organized by the City’s School Advisory Board, highlights the achievements of exceptional students who demonstrate academic excellence, consistent attendance, and a positive attitude. These students, nominated by their schools, are formally recognized at a City Commission meeting for their remarkable efforts.

For the last quarter of the 2024-2025 school year, the City of Oakland Park is proud to honor four students who have made a lasting impact on their schools and communities. These young achievers have shown exceptional dedication to their education and are role models for their peers. From high school seniors to elementary students, each honoree represents the best of the city’s student body.

Markis Houston, a 12th grader from Sunfire High School, is a standout student known for his leadership and academic drive. His teachers and peers admire his determination and respectful demeanor, and he serves as a true role model for others. As Markis prepares to graduate, his commitment to personal growth and excellence shines through. His unwavering dedication to both his studies and his community makes him a deserving recipient of this honor.

Gabriela Munoz, an 8th grader from St. Mark’s Episcopal School, exemplifies excellence in all aspects of her life. Gabriela maintains a strong academic record, but her involvement goes beyond the classroom. She actively participates in school activities and demonstrates kindness and compassion toward others. Her positive attitude and willingness to support her peers make her a beloved member of her school community.

Lily Hammond, a 5th grader at St. Mark’s Episcopal School, brings a bright spirit and enthusiasm to her school. Known for her curiosity and cheerful attitude, Lily consistently shows a strong work ethic and a willingness to help her classmates. Her teachers commend her for her focus and determination, and her infectious positivity has earned her the admiration of her peers.

Scarlett Spradlin, also a 5th grader, attends North Andrews Gardens Elementary. Scarlett’s dedication to learning and positive energy inspire those around her. Her teachers praise her perseverance and strong work ethic, and her warm-hearted nature makes her a role model for her classmates. Scarlett’s enthusiasm for learning and her ability to lift the spirits of those around her are qualities that make her truly exceptional.

The City of Oakland Park is incredibly proud of these four students, who embody the values of academic excellence, community involvement, and personal growth. Their contributions to their schools and communities reflect a promising future for the next generation of leaders. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to other students in Oakland Park and beyond.
