Town of Davie government offices and several recreational facilities will close on July 3 and 4 in observance of Independence Day

Davie, Florida – With Independence Day fast approaching, the Town of Davie is preparing for the holiday with a series of office closures and schedule adjustments that residents should be aware of. In observance of the Fourth of July, municipal government offices will be closed on both Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4, 2025. Town officials confirmed that normal operations will resume on Monday, July 7.
While the holiday means a break for many local government workers, Davie has made careful plans to keep key recreational facilities and services running, albeit with some changes.
On Thursday, July 3, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department’s Administration and Special Events offices will be closed, but many of the town’s recreational spaces will still be accessible. The Pine Island Multipurpose Center will remain open from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and most parks, playgrounds and public restrooms will be open from 9 a.m. until sunset.
Some locations will stay open later into the evening:
• Driftwood, Shenandoah, Waterford, and Waverly Park will stay open until 9 p.m.
• The Pine Island Park/Bamford Sports Complex will remain open until 10 p.m.
Fitness lovers can still visit the Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., and swimmers can enjoy the Betty Booth Roberts Pool, which will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Friday, July 4, most park facilities will remain open during the day, but there are some important changes:
• The Pine Island Multipurpose Center will be closed for the day.
• Parks, playgrounds, and restrooms will open from 9 a.m. to sunset, and the same four parks—Driftwood, Shenandoah, Waterford, and Waverly—will again stay open until 9 p.m.
• However, Pine Island Park/Bamford Sports Complex will be closed to the general public until 5 p.m. due to the town’s exclusive “Fun on the Fourth” event for Davie residents. Participation in the event requires pre-registration by Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
Additionally, the Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center will be closed for the entire day, while the Betty Booth Roberts Pool will once again open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Despite the holiday, solid waste services will continue without interruption. Garbage and bulk trash pickup will follow the normal schedule on July 4, including for residents in Zone 5, who receive bulk pickup on the first Friday of the month. Town officials remind everyone to follow solid waste guidelines when placing items at the curb to ensure smooth and timely collection.
As for public transportation, Davie’s Green and Blue bus routes will operate on their usual schedule throughout the holiday. However, there is one exception: the Tri-Rail/SFEC campus shuttle will not be running on July 4.
In anticipation of personal fireworks use during the holiday weekend, the Town of Davie is prioritizing safety and courtesy. The Davie Police Department and Code Compliance Division will post signs throughout neighborhoods urging residents to be considerate of neighbors, animals, and pets when setting off fireworks.

To address concerns about unauthorized fireworks, a special Firework Hotline will be activated. It will be operational from 7 p.m. on July 3 through 7 p.m. on July 6. Residents can report illegal fireworks activity by calling 954-693-8119.
Officials stress that this hotline is not a substitute for emergency services. “This is not a replacement for 911 or any emergency services and should only be used to report the illegal use of fireworks.”
While the holiday brings a welcome break and a chance to celebrate, the Town of Davie encourages all residents to remain safe and respectful during the festivities. With many parks open and events scheduled for families, there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy the spirit of Independence Day.
Residents can find additional details, including bus schedules and solid waste guidelines, by visiting the Town of Davie’s official website.
