Florida Veterans Foundation to continue expanding access to crucial dental care for veterans across the state in 2026

Tallahassee, Florida – The Florida Veterans Foundation (FVF) is thrilled to announce the continuation of its Veterans Dental Program in 2026, thanks to renewed funding from the Florida Legislature and approval from Governor Ron DeSantis. This vital initiative aims to expand access to essential dental care for veterans across the state, addressing an often-overlooked aspect of healthcare for those who have served in the military.

The program provides critical dental services to veterans who are not fully covered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Although veterans typically receive comprehensive medical care, dental services have remained a significant gap in their overall healthcare coverage. Many veterans face barriers to accessing necessary dental care, which can lead to other health complications. The FVF’s Veterans Dental Program is designed to bridge this gap by offering a broad range of dental services to eligible veterans.

Dr. Pia S. Woodley, Chair of the Florida Veterans Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm about the program’s continued impact. “We are honored to continue this initiative, which directly impacts the lives of many veterans across Florida. Our goal remains to ensure that every eligible veteran has access to the dental care they need, improving their quality of life and overall health,” she said.

The Florida Veterans Foundation will manage a network of selected 501(c)(3) organizations that will provide dental services to veterans across the state. These organizations have been carefully chosen for their ability to deliver comprehensive care, including everything from routine check-ups and cleanings to more complex procedures. The program will continue to focus on ensuring veterans receive the dental care they need to maintain good oral health, which is often linked to overall well-being.

The renewal of the program’s funding highlights the state’s ongoing commitment to supporting its veteran community. Florida has one of the largest veteran populations in the country, and the state is dedicated to ensuring veterans receive the care and services they deserve. With the renewed funding, the Veterans Dental Program will continue its critical work of improving the lives of thousands of veterans, many of whom might not otherwise have access to necessary dental care.

In addition to offering direct dental services, the program also educates veterans about the importance of oral health and provides resources to help them maintain their well-being long term. The Florida Veterans Foundation’s work in this area helps ensure that veterans are not left behind when it comes to their healthcare needs.

With the ongoing support from the state government and the Florida Legislature, the Veterans Dental Program will continue to make a significant difference in the lives of veterans across Florida. This initiative serves as a reminder of the state’s dedication to supporting those who have served and sacrificed for their country.
