Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The City of Fort Lauderdale is set to begin a construction project aimed at improving road safety on Cordova Road. In collaboration with All County Paving, the city will install new asphalt speed cushions along a section of the road between SE 12th Street and SE 15th Street. This initiative is designed to reduce vehicle speeds and enhance safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

The installation will take place in three locations along the road: near 1230 Cordova Road, near 1304 Cordova Road, and near 1340 Cordova Road. These speed cushions are intended to act as a traffic-calming measure, slowing down vehicles and making the area safer for residents and businesses.

Work will begin on August 6, 2025, and is expected to be completed by the end of the month. Construction will take place Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the schedule subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. The city advises motorists to be aware of the ongoing construction and to plan accordingly.

In order to ensure the safety of both workers and drivers, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) signs will be posted along Cordova Road. These signs will direct motorists through active work zones and provide alerts about upcoming changes. However, residents and business owners will continue to have access to their properties throughout the construction period, with minimal disruption expected to daily activities.

“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve safety in the area,” the city’s transportation department said in a statement. The new speed cushions are expected to help address speeding concerns and improve the overall quality of life for those who live and work on or near Cordova Road.

While the construction team works diligently to complete the project on time, residents and drivers are encouraged to follow the posted signs, drive carefully, and stay alert while in the area. The city has committed to minimizing any disruptions to the flow of traffic and ensuring that the construction process runs smoothly.
