BCPS helps families get prepared for the 2025 school year with Back to School READY events across the district

Broward County, Florida – As families across Broward County gear up for the start of the 2025/26 academic year, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is stepping up with support to ensure students have everything they need before the first day. On Thursday, August 7, from 4 to 7 p.m., BCPS will host its annual Back to School READY events at three locations, offering a one-stop shop for key services and information to help students and parents feel confident and prepared.

This year’s events will be held at the following locations:

• Atlantic Technical College, Building #2, Room 122, 4700 Coconut Creek Parkway, Coconut Creek
• Atlantic Technical College – Arthur Ashe, Jr. Campus, Gym, 1701 N.W. 23rd Ave., Fort Lauderdale
• Sheridan Technical College, Building 12, Stage Area, 5400 Sheridan St., Hollywood

The goal of these events is to provide direct access to services that families often need help with during the back-to-school period. From school registration and transportation guidance to meal applications and immunizations, BCPS has arranged for a wide variety of assistance to be available in one place.

Parents and guardians will have the chance to speak directly with representatives from district departments to learn about grade-level expectations, tutoring options, academic support programs, and guidance for the state’s FAST assessments. For families with students receiving Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services or who may need support from school counselors, student services, or the Homeless Education Assistance Resource Team (HEART), dedicated staff will be on-site to provide immediate help.

Importantly, school immunizations will also be offered at the events. Families are reminded that a parent or legal guardian must be present for a child to receive vaccines.

In addition to longtime BCPS families, newcomers to the district will receive extra support to make their transition into the school system as smooth as possible. Staff will be available to walk new families through the enrollment process and help them get familiar with school procedures and tools, including the Focus parent portal, a key platform used for monitoring student performance and staying connected with teachers.

BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn emphasized the importance of these events in preparing students for success from the very beginning of the school year. “We are excited for the new school year and committed to championing the success of our students and families before they walk onto school campuses on day one,” said Dr. Hepburn.
