Broward County, Florida – Fifteen Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) high schools have earned a spot among the top 27% of all ranked high schools nationwide in the 2025/26 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best High Schools” list. The recognition highlights the district’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and student success, showcasing a diverse mix of schools that prepare young people for both college and career pathways.

Leading the pack for BCPS is Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy, which achieved a remarkable ranking of #56 in the nation and #4 in Florida. Close behind, Pompano Beach High School placed #200 nationally and #21 statewide. Completing the top five for the district are William T. McFatter Technical High School (#605 nationally, #39 in Florida), Cypress Bay High School (#730 nationally, #44 in Florida), and Atlantic Technical High School (#1,094 nationally, #66 in Florida).

U.S. News & World Report assessed more than 24,000 public high schools across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Of these, nearly 18,000 schools were ranked using a set of six rigorous criteria, including college readiness, state assessment proficiency, overall state assessment performance, breadth of college curriculum, performance among underserved students, and graduation rates. The methodology aims to provide a comprehensive picture of each school’s ability to prepare students for post-secondary success.

“We are incredibly proud that our high schools are consistently recognized for being among the best in the nation,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “These rankings reflect the hard work of our students; the dedication of our teachers, administrators and staff; and the support from our families and the community. They also highlight the world-class education our students receive to prepare them for success in college and careers.”

Beyond the top five, several other BCPS schools also earned high marks nationally. Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School ranked #1,256, placing it in the top 7% of schools nationwide, while West Broward High School came in at #1,595. Fort Lauderdale High School (#1,691) and Broward Virtual School (#1,742) followed closely, demonstrating strong outcomes in graduation rates and academic achievement. Cooper City High School (#1,908) and Nova High School (#2,440) also distinguished themselves with solid performances across multiple evaluation factors.

The remaining BCPS high schools on the list include Western High School (#3,124), Everglades High School (#3,726), Coral Glades High School (#4,283), and Charles W. Flanagan High School (#4,773). These rankings reflect consistent district-wide efforts to provide students with access to high-quality instruction, diverse course offerings, and targeted support programs that address the needs of all learners.

BCPS has long emphasized the importance of preparing students for the demands of higher education and the modern workforce. Programs such as dual enrollment, Advanced Placement courses, and career-focused technical education pathways have contributed significantly to student readiness and overall school performance. The district’s commitment to equity and support for underserved populations is also evident in the rankings, as several schools demonstrated exceptional achievement among students who historically face educational barriers.

“This recognition is a testament not only to the dedication of our educators but also to the perseverance of our students and the support of their families,” Dr. Hepburn added. “Our focus remains on ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed and thrive beyond high school, whether they choose college, technical training, or entering the workforce directly.”

The U.S. News & World Report rankings provide families, educators, and policymakers with a comprehensive snapshot of academic performance nationwide. For BCPS, the continued presence of its high schools among the top-ranked institutions reinforces the district’s reputation for excellence and its ongoing efforts to provide students with world-class educational opportunities.
