Pompano Beach, Florida – The City of Pompano Beach will pause this September to reflect on one of the most significant days in American history. In partnership with local agencies, the city is inviting residents to come together for the National Day of Service and Remembrance Ceremony on Thursday, September 11, 2025. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will take place at Founders Park, 215 NE 4th Street.

Organized by the Parks and Recreation Department, the evening will serve as both a memorial and a celebration of resilience. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue, the Broward Sheriff’s Office, and the Pompano Beach Historical Society are joining forces to ensure the program is meaningful, solemn, and unifying. The ceremony is free to attend, and community members of all ages are encouraged to be present.

Throughout the evening, those gathered will hear from guest speakers who will share reflections on the tragedy of September 11, 2001, and the courage that followed. Music performed by a live band will add a powerful backdrop, while recognition awards will honor local individuals who have demonstrated bravery and service in the community.

“This is an opportunity for us to remember the lives lost, to recognize the sacrifices of first responders, and to show our unity as a community,” said city officials in announcing the event. The message echoes the spirit of the National Day of Service, which asks Americans to turn remembrance into positive action.

More than two decades after the attacks, the memory of 9/11 remains vivid for millions of Americans. For Pompano Beach, the ceremony offers both a space to grieve and a way to honor those who continue to serve. By hosting this gathering in the heart of the city, organizers hope to ensure that the legacy of the heroes—both national and local—is never forgotten.
