New paid on street parking will begin October 1 on several blocks in Hollywood with permits available for local residents

Hollywood, Florida – Drivers in Hollywood will soon see changes to familiar streets as the city prepares to launch a new paid on-street parking program. Beginning Wednesday, October 1, 2025, meters will be activated along several blocks in the downtown area, marking a shift for both visitors and residents.

The affected streets include Taylor Street between Federal Highway and 21st Avenue, Jackson Street between Federal Highway and 21st Avenue, 17th Avenue between Polk Street and Johnson Street, and Polk Street between Federal Highway and 14th Avenue. These popular corridors have long offered free public parking, but starting in October, motorists will need to pay posted rates to park there.

City officials say the move is designed to improve traffic flow, increase turnover of prime spaces, and provide a more consistent system for visitors. While the change is expected to generate additional revenue, leaders emphasize that residents who live on the impacted blocks will not be left without options.

To help households adjust, an annual residential parking permit program will be introduced alongside the new rules. For $25 per year, residents may purchase up to two permits per household, giving them the ability to park on the affected streets without paying hourly rates.

To qualify, applicants must show a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration in their name, and proof of residency such as a property tax bill, voter registration card, utility bill, or signed lease. Seasonal homeowners who can provide proper documentation of property ownership will also be eligible. However, those living in large multi-unit rental properties will not qualify for the program.

Applications can be submitted online at www.HollywoodFL.org/parking or in person at the Parking Office, located at 2600 Hollywood Boulevard inside the City Hall Annex Building. The city urges residents not to wait until the last minute, since paid parking enforcement will begin immediately on October 1.
