South Florida transit agencies launch SoFloGO app to unify multiple transportation systems and simplify travel across the region

South Florida – In a significant leap toward improving regional mobility, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA), in collaboration with Broward County Transit (BCT), the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), and Palm Tran, has officially launched SoFloGO, a mobile app designed to unify transit services across the region. The app, powered by Moovit’s mobility solutions and Genfare’s fare payment technology, aims to streamline both trip planning and fare payment for commuters, residents, and visitors navigating South Florida’s complex transit network.
SoFloGO integrates four major transit systems, including Tri-Rail, BCT, Palm Tran, and DTPW’s Metrorail, Metrobus, and Metromover, into a single, user-friendly platform. Riders can access multimodal trip planning, live arrival updates, step-by-step directions, mobile ticketing, and service alerts, offering a seamless travel experience across county boundaries. Additional features such as deboarding alerts and accessibility options, including screen reader compatibility and step-free routes, ensure the app is inclusive for riders with mobility challenges.
As South Florida continues to grow in both population and tourism, the need for coordinated and efficient transit solutions has become increasingly urgent. SoFloGO addresses this demand by consolidating transit options into one cohesive app, giving users a reliable and simplified way to travel throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
“We are thrilled to introduce the SoFloGO app, a dream come true for South Florida public transportation,” said David Dech, SFRTA Executive Director. “Every day, people use our transit services to cross city and county lines interchangeably. This app integrates all the services they need in one place, making regional travel more convenient than ever before.”
Coree Cuff Lonergan, CEO and General Manager of Broward County Transit, described the app as a major advancement for the region. “SoFloGo is a game-changer for public transit in South Florida, and especially for the residents of Broward County, bringing together multiple transportation systems into one seamless experience. For the first time, our riders have a single, seamless way to plan trips and pay fares across county lines. This collaboration represents a major step forward in making transit more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly.”
DTPW Director Stacy Miller emphasized the benefits of technology in public transportation, noting, “Whenever we can leverage innovative technologies to make public transportation easier and more appealing, everybody wins. This is an important step forward that our partners at the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority are taking to enhance our customers’ experience.”
Palm Tran Executive Director Ivan Maldonado added, “Palm Tran is looking forward to the launch of the SoFLoGo app. It’s a great tool that will help connect riders to the different transportation services throughout South Florida.”
Funded in part by the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, SoFloGO reflects a regional vision of enhanced connectivity and fare interoperability. The app is now available for download on the App Store and Google Play, with more information accessible at https://soflogo.com. By unifying multiple transit networks under one platform, South Florida officials hope to make public transportation more efficient, accessible, and attractive for everyone.
