BSO Deerfield Beach traffic unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left two pedestrians seriously injured last month

Deerfield Beach, Florida – Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Deerfield Beach Traffic Unit are actively investigating a hit-and-run crash that left two pedestrians seriously injured last month. Authorities are now releasing details about the suspect vehicle in the hope of obtaining new leads that could result in an arrest.
According to investigators, the crash occurred at approximately 8:21 p.m. on Friday, August 29, near the 1500 block of East Hillsboro Boulevard. Broward County Regional Communications received multiple reports of a collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians. Deputies from BSO, along with Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel, responded to the scene to provide assistance.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a man and a woman were crossing Hillsboro Boulevard when they were struck by a vehicle that immediately fled the scene. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Authorities have not released the names of the victims, citing privacy concerns and ongoing investigation protocols.
Investigators describe the suspect vehicle as a red-colored SUV, possibly a Honda Fit, with visible damage to the right-front portion. Detectives believe that identifying the vehicle or the driver is critical to moving the case forward and ensuring accountability for the crash.
“This was a serious incident that left two people injured, and we are asking anyone with information to come forward,” said a spokesperson for the BSO Deerfield Beach Traffic Unit. “Even the smallest piece of information could help us locate the driver and bring justice to the victims.”
Anyone with information regarding the driver or the red SUV involved in the hit-and-run is urged to contact Deputy Vincent Kearney at the BSO Deerfield Beach Traffic Unit by calling 954-480-4300. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the SaferWatch app.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and are reviewing surveillance footage and witness statements to locate the suspect. BSO emphasizes the importance of community assistance in solving hit-and-run cases and reminds drivers of the legal consequences for leaving the scene of a collision that causes injury.
As the investigation progresses, detectives remain committed to ensuring the victims receive justice while working diligently to locate the driver responsible for the dangerous and illegal act on East Hillsboro Boulevard.
