Oakland Park, Florida – Visitors and residents of Oakland Park now have an unmistakable signal that they’ve arrived in a city full of pride and progress. On October 8, 2025, the Mayor and City Commissioners officially unveiled the city’s new entryway signs, marking a milestone in Oakland Park’s ongoing effort to enhance its identity and public spaces. The first sign now stands prominently along Dixie Highway, just south of Oakland Park Boulevard on the right northbound side, creating a bold and welcoming first impression for all who enter the city.

A second sign has been installed along NW 44th Street, just west of NW 31 Avenue, ensuring that Oakland Park’s signature aesthetic extends to multiple key gateways. These entryway markers are not simply functional—they are a visual celebration of the city’s creativity, spirit, and vision. Designed in-house by a talented city employee, the signs reflect both the community’s pride and its commitment to thoughtful design. Each installation echoes the aesthetic established in recent projects like City Centennial Park, Dr. Carter G. Woodson Park, and Fire Station 9, contributing to a cohesive and modern visual identity across Oakland Park.

“These entryway signs are more than markers — they’re a reflection of our community’s spirit, creativity, and shared vision,” city officials said. The modern design serves to both welcome visitors and connect different corridors, emphasizing Oakland Park’s ongoing transformation into a vibrant, unified city. By enhancing curb appeal and creating a sense of place, the signs stand as symbols of the city’s momentum as it confidently moves into its Second Century.

The unveiling event drew city leaders and community members together to celebrate this new addition, underscoring the city’s commitment to both aesthetic appeal and civic pride. Each sign’s thoughtful design includes elements that mirror the city’s architecture, landscaping, and public spaces, creating a visual thread that ties together Oakland Park’s streets, parks, and neighborhoods. The city hopes that residents will view the signs not just as landmarks, but as reminders of the progress being made and the potential ahead.

In addition to welcoming visitors, the signs are expected to have a broader impact on the city’s identity. By establishing clearly marked gateways, Oakland Park strengthens its sense of community and communicates its dedication to livability, safety, and connectedness. “By enhancing curb appeal and tying together our corridors, the new gateway signs symbolize the city’s progress as it confidently moves into its Second Century,” city leaders noted.

Residents and visitors passing through Dixie Highway or NW 44th Street are encouraged to take a moment to appreciate the new landmarks. These entryway signs serve as a literal and figurative signal that Oakland Park continues to evolve into a vibrant, connected city where people feel welcome, whether they are here to live, work, or visit.

The city’s investment in the signage aligns with broader efforts to improve public spaces, infrastructure, and community amenities. By showcasing the city’s unique character at key entry points, Oakland Park reinforces its identity and encourages a sense of pride among its residents. The signs are not only functional—they are symbols of growth, progress, and shared vision, setting the stage for continued community development.

The initiative highlights the power of thoughtful urban design in fostering civic pride and creating welcoming, vibrant spaces for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.

These signs are more than just markers along the road—they are a statement of community, creativity, and progress, reflecting Oakland Park’s ongoing transformation and commitment to a unified, inviting cityscape for generations to come.
