Deerfield Beach, Florida – On Friday morning, Deerfield Beach Elementary School became a hub of excitement and literary discovery as students, teachers, and community members gathered to celebrate the district’s Super Reader program. The event, hosted by Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) in partnership with Conrad & Scherer’s “Book Buddies” initiative, brought together attorneys, educators, and local organizations to inspire a love of reading among young learners.

From 9 to 9:45 a.m., classrooms at the school were alive with the sounds of storytelling. Community partners, including attorneys from Conrad & Scherer, LLP, read aloud to students, engaging them with imaginative tales and encouraging them to develop confidence as readers. Each student left the celebration with a brand-new book to continue their reading journey at home, a gesture aimed at fostering lifelong learning.

“The Super Reader initiative is part of the District’s ongoing commitment to promote literacy and recognize student achievement,” said a BCPS spokesperson. “Through community partnerships like Conrad & Scherer’s ‘Book Buddies,’ BCPS continues to provide meaningful learning experiences that empower students to succeed in school and beyond.”

The celebration also highlighted the contributions of a variety of local organizations dedicated to literacy and community enrichment. Supporting partners included the Levine Kellogg Law Firm, Children’s Services Council, HandsOn South Florida, Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library, the City of Deerfield Beach, Braithwaite Center for Active Aging, Broward Sheriff’s Office, and the Broward Reads Coalition. Their involvement underscored the collective effort to nurture reading habits and academic growth in young students across the county.

For many students, the event was more than just an opportunity to hear a story; it was an interactive experience designed to ignite curiosity and encourage a positive relationship with books. Teachers and administrators noted the enthusiasm in classrooms as students shared their thoughts about the stories, asked questions, and interacted with visiting readers. “It’s wonderful to see our students’ eyes light up when they hear someone read to them,” said a Deerfield Beach Elementary staff member.

By combining the resources of local law firms, libraries, nonprofit organizations, and city officials, BCPS aims to create a network of support for young readers. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to literacy, emphasizing that education extends beyond the classroom and thrives when communities work together.

As the Super Reader celebration concluded, students left the school not only with new books in hand but also with a renewed sense of excitement about reading. The event served as a reminder that fostering literacy in the youngest learners can have a lasting impact, helping shape confident, curious, and capable students ready to explore the world through stories.
