Pembroke Pines invites the community to join the MLK Jr. Day parade and celebration with music performances and family activities

Pembroke Pines, Florida – The City of Pembroke Pines is inviting residents of all ages to come together and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 19, 2026. The event, which will take place from 9 AM to 12:30 PM at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, promises a morning filled with community spirit, music, activities, and reflection on the enduring message of equality and justice.

The day will begin with a special hour-long parade winding around City Center, starting at 9 AM. Leading the parade as Grand Marshalls will be Mayor Angelo Castillo and Shauna Hicks-Lee, guiding participants and spectators through a route designed to bring the community together in honor of Dr. King’s vision. The parade sets the tone for the day, emphasizing both celebration and remembrance, as residents march, cheer, and reflect on the contributions of one of history’s most influential civil rights leaders.

Following the parade, the festivities continue on the Plaza starting at 10 AM. The Deep Fried Funk band will take the stage from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, providing live music that adds rhythm and energy to the morning.
