Pompano Beach, Florida – A man was hospitalized after being shot in Pompano Beach on New Year’s Day, authorities said.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported that deputies were called to the 2800 block of Northwest 7th Street shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday following reports of a shooting. When law enforcement and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition has not been disclosed.

BSO said its Violent Crimes and Crime Scene units responded to the area to investigate the incident. Officials have not released information on any suspects or possible motives at this time.

The sheriff’s office urged anyone who may have seen the shooting or has information to come forward. “Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477),” the office said.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and they are reviewing evidence collected at the scene, including statements from witnesses. Residents in the area were reportedly shaken by the incident, which occurred on a typically quiet block in Pompano Beach.

Gun violence has been a growing concern in the county, and local law enforcement officials have emphasized the importance of community tips in solving cases. The sheriff’s office continues to encourage residents to report any suspicious activity that may help prevent future incidents.
