Sunrise, Florida – The City of Sunrise has announced special hours of operation for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, giving residents the opportunity to plan their day while the city observes the national holiday. Most administrative offices, including the Sunrise Senior Center, Signature Sunrise, and the Theatre Box Office, will be closed in recognition of the occasion, allowing city employees and the public to honor Dr. King’s legacy.

While administrative offices will not be open, several city facilities will operate with adjusted hours to ensure that residents can still enjoy recreational and community amenities. City parks will remain open during their normal schedule, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for most locations, offering ample opportunity for outdoor activities and exercise. The Civic Center Athletic Club will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the Civic Center Aquatics Complex will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., providing access to fitness and swimming facilities for residents looking to stay active during the holiday.

Other community venues will also see modified hours. The Sunrise Tennis Club will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the Bridges at Springtree Golf Club will continue to operate during its regular hours, allowing golfers to enjoy a round on MLK Day. Additionally, multipurpose centers such as the SAC and Village locations will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering spaces for recreational programs and community activities.

City officials have emphasized that garbage, recycling, and bulk trash collection will continue as regularly scheduled, ensuring that essential services remain uninterrupted despite the holiday closures. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and make use of the available city amenities while honoring the significance of the day.

“We thank the community for observing these special hours of operation so City of Sunrise employees, residents, and businesses all have an opportunity to celebrate Martin Luther King Day while also enjoying their favorite City facilities and amenities,” city officials said. Residents are invited to review the full list of city holidays for additional details and to plan visits to specific facilities.
