Rita Case and community partners bring holiday joy and comfort to pediatric patients at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital through a generous gift delivery

Hollywood, Florida – A burst of color, kindness, and holiday warmth filled the halls of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital earlier this month as community leaders and volunteers came together to bring comfort to young patients during one of the most challenging times of the year. The visit, led by Broward County Property Appraiser Marty Kiar’s Outreach Program in partnership with Rita Case and Ron Cacciatore, transformed an ordinary winter day into a moment of joy for children and families facing serious medical journeys.

On January 6, 2026, the group arrived at the Hollywood, Florida hospital with what could only be described as a sleigh full of care. Toys, puzzles, books, blankets, crib sheets, and socks were delivered directly to pediatric patients, offering both entertainment and reassurance during long hospital stays. For families spending the holidays away from home, these simple items carried a deeper meaning.

Rita Case, president and CEO of the Rick Case Automotive Group, said the effort is about recognizing the emotional toll the season can bring to families already under strain.

“We collect books, toys, blankets and more for these children and their families who are going through so much. It’s particularly difficult this time of year,” said Case. “If we can bring them some comfort with a blanket and a book or a toy, it makes what we do all worthwhile.”

The donated items were carefully chosen to meet both emotional and practical needs. Toys and puzzles provide distraction and joy, helping young patients pass the time and stay mentally engaged. Books allow children and parents to escape, even briefly, into stories that offer comfort or adventure. Meanwhile, blankets, crib sheets, and socks help ensure patients remain warm and comfortable during treatment and recovery.

Hospital leaders emphasized how meaningful these visits are, especially during the holiday season, when feelings of isolation can be heightened for families spending weeks or months inside medical facilities.

“We appreciate Rita, Ron and Marty for their kindness and for always keeping our kids top of mind for comforting and fun experiences like this,” said Caitlin Stella, CEO of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. “Today is extra special since the holidays are so hard on our families. We are so grateful for their ongoing support of the hospital and those we care for.”

For the Broward County Property Appraiser’s Outreach Program, the visit reflects a broader mission to uplift vulnerable populations across South Florida. By partnering with local leaders and organizations, the program focuses on moments when compassion can have the greatest impact.

The outreach effort was supported by Ron Cacciatore, Director of Professional Standards and Compliance for the Broward County Property Appraiser’s office, who helped coordinate the visit and ensure the donations reached those who needed them most. Together, the team worked closely with hospital staff to distribute items safely and thoughtfully.

The Memorial Foundation and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation also highlighted the importance of philanthropy in sustaining high-quality pediatric care. Donations and community support help fund programs, resources, and experiences that go beyond medical treatment alone.

“We are continually humbled by the generosity of our community,” said Kelley Morris, President of Memorial Foundation and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Our mission is to ensure patients have access to the highest quality care, and philanthropy makes that possible. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who rely on the Memorial Healthcare System.”

Behind the scenes, the Rick Case Automotive Group played a key role in supporting the initiative. Founded in 1962, the company has grown into the nation’s largest female owned and operated automotive dealer group. Under Rita Case’s leadership, the organization has built a strong reputation not only for sales performance, but also for community involvement.

The Rick Case Automotive Group operates 12 dealerships across South Florida and Georgia, representing a wide range of brands including Honda, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Kia, Audi, Mazda, Maserati, and others. Its South Florida locations are known for setting national sales records and consistently ranking among top performers in their markets.

Beyond business success, Case has remained committed to giving back. Named the 2024 TIME Dealer of the Year, she has used her platform to support charitable causes, particularly those benefiting children and families in need.

For the patients at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the visit was less about who delivered the gifts and more about how the gesture made them feel. A new toy, a warm blanket, or a favorite book can offer a sense of normalcy and comfort in an unfamiliar environment.

As hospital rooms briefly filled with smiles and excitement, the message behind the visit was clear: even during difficult times, compassion and community can make a powerful difference. Through continued partnerships and acts of generosity, organizers hope to keep spreading that message well beyond the holiday season.
