Broward County Public Schools achieves historic federal graduation rate of 91.4 percent for the 2024-25 school year

Broward County, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) has reached a historic milestone, with the district’s federal graduation rate climbing to 91.4% for the 2024–25 school year, according to the Florida Department of Education. This marks an increase of 2.4 percentage points from 89% in 2024 and represents the first time in at least 25 years that BCPS has surpassed the 90% graduation threshold. The federal graduation rate calculation includes students from traditional high schools, centers, and charter schools within the district. When looking specifically at BCPS traditional high schools, the results are even more striking: the graduation rate rose to 97.5%, up from 96.2% the previous year. “Every single one of our 36 traditional District high schools achieved a graduation rate of 90% or higher, and 31 of these schools reached a graduation rate at or above 95%,” BCPS officials noted. Among these, seven schools achieved a perfect 100% graduation rate: Atlantic Technical High School, College Academy at Broward College, Lauderhill 6–12 STEM-MED, McFatter Technical High School, Millennium 6–12 Collegiate Academy, Pompano Beach High School, and Sheridan Technical High School. College Academy at Broward College has maintained a 100% graduation rate for 14 consecutive years, demonstrating sustained excellence.

The gains extend beyond the district average to traditionally underserved student populations. English Language Learners (ELLs) saw a 5.3 percentage point increase in graduation rates, reaching 84.6% in 2025. Black or African American students also experienced notable improvement, with graduation rates rising 3.5 percentage points to 88.9%. Several schools made particularly significant gains in 2025, with increases of three or more percentage points compared to the previous year. Blanche Ely High School rose 5.6 points, Coconut Creek High School 4.4 points, Deerfield Beach High School 4.9 points, Hollywood Hills High School 5.1 points, J.P. Taravella High School 3.3 points, McArthur High School 6.2 points, and Plantation High School 5 points.
