Bonefish Grill in Broward County faces administrative complaint after inspection uncovers multiple food safety violations

Broward County, Florida – Bonefish Grill in Broward County, Florida, is facing an administrative complaint following a routine food safety inspection that uncovered multiple violations at its Weston location. The Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation conducted the inspection at the restaurant, located at 4545 Weston Road in Weston, on January 8, 2026, and the results have prompted a follow-up review.

State inspection records show that six violations were documented, including one high-priority issue and five basic violations. While officials noted that none of the problems posed an immediate threat to the public, the high-priority violation was flagged as a repeat offense and triggered the recommendation for an administrative complaint.

The high-priority issue involved temperature control failures with seafood and other menu items. Inspectors discovered crab stored at 44 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit in cold holding. According to the operator, the item had been out of proper temperature for less than three hours and was not portioned or prepared that day. In addition, hamburger patties were found at 47 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit after being held out of temperature for three hours. Both items were immediately placed in the walk-in cooler to chill quickly.

State inspectors also noted five basic violations that, while less severe, still required correction. Among them, an in-use utensil was stored in standing water at 115 degrees Fahrenheit on the cook line. A missing drain plug was observed at the dumpster, and old labels remained stuck to food containers despite cleaning, though this issue was corrected during the inspection. Other concerns included a wiping cloth sanitizing solution stored on the floor in the prep area, which was promptly elevated, and working containers of flour that lacked identification by common name after removal from original packaging.

Despite these findings, Bonefish Grill maintains a strong reputation among customers. The Publix Weston Commons location currently holds a 4.5-star rating based on 2,263 Google reviews. The contemporary seafood grill offers a menu that includes seafood, steaks, and cocktails, and the establishment remains popular among local diners.

The administrative complaint recommendation means the restaurant could face additional oversight or potential penalties if the violations are not fully addressed. Follow-up inspections will likely ensure that temperature control practices and other safety protocols meet state requirements.

For now, Bonefish Grill’s management has taken steps to correct the more minor issues during the inspection, but the high-priority violations—particularly the repeated temperature control failures—remain a key focus for state regulators. Maintaining proper food storage temperatures is critical to preventing bacterial growth and protecting public health, and state authorities emphasize that repeat offenses are taken seriously.

As the restaurant works to rectify the problems, local patrons are keeping an eye on how the chain responds. While the violations do not suggest immediate danger, the administrative complaint serves as a reminder of the importance of strict adherence to food safety standards in even well-established and highly rated restaurants. Bonefish Grill’s next steps will determine how the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation proceeds and whether further actions, including fines or additional oversight, are necessary.

The outcome of the complaint will likely be closely watched by both regulators and customers, as food safety remains a top priority for dining establishments across Broward County and beyond.
