Davie, Florida – In the South Florida community of Davie, a simple act of generosity could make a world of difference for animals still waiting for their chance at a permanent home. Town officials have launched a pet supply donation drive that will run through Thursday, April 9, 2026, inviting residents to contribute items that can directly benefit shelter animals cared for by the Humane Society of Broward County.

The initiative aims to gather everyday supplies that are often overlooked but critically needed inside animal shelters. While many people think first of food or monetary donations, shelters also depend heavily on comfort items and enrichment tools to care for pets while they wait for adoption.

Community members are encouraged to donate toys designed for dogs and cats, along with soft treats that can help provide positive reinforcement and comfort for animals adjusting to shelter life. Other requested items include towels and blankets—gently used ones are acceptable—as well as wee wee pads, which are frequently used in the daily care of both puppies and adult dogs.

Town leaders hope the drive will inspire residents to participate in a collective effort that supports animals during what can often be a stressful period in their lives. Every donated toy, blanket, or treat can help make a shelter stay a little easier for pets awaiting their next chapter.

To make participation convenient, the town has organized several drop-off points across the community. Residents can bring donations to the Town Clerk’s Office in Building C at 8800 SW 36th Street between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Additional weekday drop-off options include the Pine Island Multipurpose Center at 3801 South Pine Island Road, open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center at 3800 SW 92nd Avenue, which operates from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Other weekday locations include the Davie Police Department lobby at 1230 South Nob Hill Road and the Davie Fire Rescue Department main lobby at 6901 Orange Drive. Both locations accept donations Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

For those unable to visit during the workweek, weekend options remain available. On Fridays, donations can still be delivered to the Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m., or to the Pine Island Multipurpose Center from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Over the weekend, the fitness and aquatic center welcomes donations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the multipurpose center accepts items from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Local officials say the drive reflects the town’s commitment to supporting both residents and animals within the broader Broward County community. Shelters like the Humane Society of Broward County rely heavily on public support, particularly for supplies that are used daily and must be replenished often.

Each donated item plays a small but meaningful role—whether it’s a blanket that provides warmth and comfort, a toy that relieves boredom in a kennel, or treats that help staff build trust with anxious animals.

Residents seeking more information about the pet supply donation drive can contact Annie Li at [email protected] or call 954-797-1169.

Media inquiries about the initiative can be directed to Development Administrator Leona Henry at 954-797-1035 or [email protected], Public Relations Coordinator Ariana Briceño at 954-797-1190 or [email protected], or Public Relations Assistant Camryn Tippetts at 954-797-1102 or [email protected].

As the April 9 deadline approaches, organizers are hopeful that the community will step forward once again—this time to help animals still waiting patiently for the moment someone walks through the shelter doors and takes them home.
