Flood recovery grant applications open to help residents impacted by recent disaster access housing repair and rebuilding assistance programs
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The City of Fort Lauderdale has officially opened its online application portal for Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) housing assistance programs, marking a new step in ongoing efforts to help residents recover from the devastating April 2023 flood event.
The programs are designed to provide targeted support for households still dealing with the aftermath of the flooding. Assistance may include home rehabilitation, full reconstruction in more severe cases, and elevation work intended to reduce the risk of future flood damage. The funding can also help with reimbursement for certain eligible flood-related expenses, along with other recovery and mitigation efforts aimed at strengthening homes and improving long-term resilience.
City officials say the goal is not only to repair damage but also to help residents rebuild in a safer and more stable way. The program is part of a broader recovery effort that continues more than a year after the historic flooding disrupted neighborhoods across the city.
Applications are now being accepted through an online portal, where residents can submit their information and review program requirements. The city has also made support available for those who may struggle with the digital process or need additional guidance while applying.
Residents seeking help can call 954-495-4533 for assistance with completing their applications or understanding eligibility criteria. Staff are available to walk applicants through the steps and answer questions related to documentation and program options.
In addition to the application portal, the city has launched a dedicated webpage with updates, resources, and detailed program information. Officials encourage residents to check the site regularly for any changes or new guidance related to the recovery programs.
The webpage can be accessed at https://ftlcity.info/CDBG-DR, where applicants can also find links to supporting materials and further instructions.

City officials are urging residents who were impacted by the April 2023 flood event to explore their options and apply if they qualify. The programs are intended to ease financial burdens and help households restore or improve their homes after the widespread damage caused by the storm.
While recovery efforts have been ongoing since the flooding, officials say this round of funding represents another important opportunity for residents to move forward with repairs and long-term rebuilding.
