Florida officials seek public input through new survey for the 2028 State Hazard Mitigation Plan

Hollywood, Florida – The Florida Division of Emergency Management is asking residents and businesses across the state to share their views as officials begin updating Florida’s 2028 State Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The public survey is intended to gather information about the hazards and risks communities face, the steps already being taken to reduce those risks and possible strategies that could help protect people and property in the future.

Residents and businesses are being encouraged to take part because local experiences can help provide a clearer picture of the challenges facing different parts of Florida. Communities across the state can face different types of hazards, and the information submitted through the survey will be used as part of the planning process.

The State Hazard Mitigation Plan, commonly referred to as the SHMP, is being updated for 2028. Public feedback will help officials better understand community needs and priorities as they work on the new version of the plan.
