Hollywood, Florida – Golfers in Hollywood, Florida will soon experience a temporary disruption in their routines as the City of Hollywood Department of Public Utilities prepares to shut down Eco Golf Course for a critical infrastructure upgrade. Starting May 5, the northern portion of the course will close to make way for construction related to the installation of a new pump station serving Deep Injection Wells 3 and 4 at the South Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The pump station project, located on the grounds of Eco Golf Course at 1451 Taft Street, is part of a broader initiative by the city to meet Florida’s state-mandated requirement to eliminate ocean outfalls by 2025. Daily construction activity is scheduled from approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will involve the installation of high-voltage infrastructure to supply power from Florida Power & Light to the new facility.

While the golf course itself will be temporarily closed through mid-July, the Clubhouse at Eco will remain open to the public on a limited schedule. It will welcome guests from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays, and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

“This upgrade is a critical part of our city’s infrastructure modernization and environmental stewardship,” the city noted. “We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to complete this important project.”

In a show of support for local golfers, the City’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts is offering special discounted rates at Orangebrook Golf & Country Club to Eco patrons during the closure period. Patrons can contact Orangebrook at 954.921.3404 for more information on how to access the discounts.

Although the closure will impact regular play at Eco, city officials are encouraging residents to consider the long-term benefits of the upgrade, which supports responsible wastewater management and a cleaner coastal ecosystem.

For those seeking additional details or updates about the pump station project, the public is invited to reach out directly to the Department of Public Utilities at 954.921.3930.
