Pembroke Pines hosts the 16th annual mayor’s kids day with a fun-filled beach party celebration for kids of all ages

Pembroke Pines, Florida – On Friday, June 20, 2025, Pembroke Pines will be buzzing with excitement as the 16th Annual Mayor’s Kids Day “Beach Party” kicks off from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. This annual event, hosted by Mayor Angelo Castillo, promises an afternoon of fun, entertainment, and surprises for the city’s youngest residents. Children aged 15 and under are invited to join in the festivities, with a variety of exciting activities lined up to make the day unforgettable.
The event is free to attend, but children must be registered in advance to participate. Beginning on June 2, 2025, parents can pick up wristbands for their children from the Recreation and Cultural Arts Department at several designated locations. These wristbands are required for entry and allow children to enjoy all the event has to offer. Registration is open through June 19, 2025, and locations for wristband pickup include Pembroke Lakes Tennis, City Center, TownGate, and Price Park. The department’s hours vary by location, so parents should check the city’s website for specific times.
“This event has become a beloved tradition in Pembroke Pines, and we’re thrilled to offer another day of fun and celebration for our kids,” said Mayor Angelo Castillo. “Thanks to the generous support of local businesses and sponsors like Baptist Health, we’re able to create an exciting environment where our children feel like VIPs and enjoy a day of special treats and surprises.”
The Mayor’s Kids Day kicks off with a festive “Lunch with the Mayor,” which will run from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. This special lunch event provides an excellent opportunity for families to gather, chat with the Mayor, and enjoy a meal together. But the fun doesn’t end there—one of the event’s biggest draws is the chance for kids to meet and play with an array of celebrity mascots. Among those expected to attend are Plato the Publixaurus and several other characters, who will be sure to entertain and engage children throughout the event.
Adding to the excitement is a lively “Hula Lessons” performance, which will take place during the event. This interactive activity invites children to learn some fun dance moves and embrace the spirit of the beach party theme. As the hula dancers guide the kids through the moves, everyone is encouraged to get up and join in the fun, bringing a touch of Hawaiian charm to the day.
Once the lunch and entertainment wrap up, the real adventure begins. Kids will head out to local Pembroke Pines businesses participating in the event, each offering special gifts, samples, and surprise giveaways. With a variety of deals and surprises available, the businesses aim to make Pembroke Pines’ young residents feel like VIPs. These special offers are available for children with wristbands and are only valid on the day of the event.
“Participating businesses are what really make this event special,” said a representative from the Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. “It’s wonderful to see how our local businesses come together to create such a positive experience for kids. We encourage everyone to support these businesses while enjoying the perks and surprises that they’re offering.”
Only businesses located in Pembroke Pines are eligible to participate, and each year the list of participating businesses changes. The city’s website, www.ppines.com/specialevents, will provide regular updates on which businesses are offering promotions. Some deals are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and some may be limited to specific times, so it’s important for families to keep an eye on the website for the most up-to-date information.
Parents are encouraged to register their children early, as the event is expected to draw a large crowd. The event has been a staple of the community for 16 years, and each year it grows bigger and better, thanks to the support of local businesses and organizations.
The 16th Annual Mayor’s Kids Day “Beach Party” is set to be another successful, fun-filled event that will create lasting memories for children and families alike. Whether it’s meeting their favorite mascot, enjoying the hula dance performance, or picking up some great deals from local businesses, Pembroke Pines kids are in for an unforgettable experience. Don’t miss out on this amazing event—mark your calendars and get ready to join in the celebration!
