Sunrise, Florida – The City of Sunrise will host a special remembrance ceremony on Thursday, September 11, 2025, to mark the 24th anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks that forever changed the nation. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Sunrise Civic Center Theatre, located at 10610 W. Oakland Park Boulevard.

Held annually, the ceremony offers a solemn moment for the community to come together and reflect on the nearly 3,000 lives lost during the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard United Flight 93. It is also a time to pay tribute to the brave first responders, the survivors, and the families whose lives were changed forever on that day.

“This ceremony will feature distinguished speakers, music, a memorial display, and the presentation of colors.” Community leaders, public safety officials, and local residents are expected to attend the event, which has become an important tradition in Sunrise.

The ceremony will include a tribute to the victims, honoring not only those who perished but also the many who have since passed due to illnesses related to rescue and recovery efforts. As in past years, music will accompany the program to set a respectful and reflective tone.

The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome and encouraged to attend, especially those who wish to remember, reflect, and stand in unity with others who continue to feel the impact of 9/11. The City of Sunrise emphasizes the importance of community remembrance and the need to ensure that future generations understand the significance of this day in American history.
