Plantation reminds business owners that the local business tax annual renewal deadline is approaching soon
Plantation, Florida – The City of Plantation is reminding local businesses that it is once again time to renew their Local Business Tax Receipts (LBTRs), with the 2025–2026 renewal period already underway. Each year, all LBTRs expire on September 30, and city officials are urging business owners to complete their payments early to avoid late fees and penalties.
Renewal statements for the upcoming tax year were mailed on or before July 1, giving businesses several months to prepare. The city has emphasized that payments must be received prior to September 30. Any LBTRs left unpaid as of October 1 will automatically become delinquent, and additional penalties will be assessed. Once payment is processed, a new LBTR certificate will be issued and emailed directly to the business contact on record.
Officials are also asking business owners to take a moment to review their accounts and confirm whether their certificate is still needed. If a business has closed or is no longer operating within the city’s jurisdiction, the City of Plantation encourages owners to notify staff so that records can be updated. The same applies to any changes regarding professionals who would otherwise need to renew their tax receipts, or updates to contact information such as email addresses and phone numbers.
Another important reminder involves outside licenses. Businesses are urged to check that all required licenses issued by external agencies are valid and up to date. Any renewals or updates should be submitted to the city so that records can be properly maintained.
To make the process as smooth as possible, multiple payment options are available. Business owners may choose to pay online through a secure city portal, or, if preferred, payments can be mailed or made in person at City Hall between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Local Business Tax Receipt system plays a key role in keeping city records accurate while ensuring compliance among the business community. It is also a way for Plantation to maintain updated information about the wide variety of enterprises that operate within its borders. For business owners, keeping their LBTR active and current is an essential step in maintaining good standing with the city.
The City has expressed appreciation to local businesses for their cooperation. “Thank you for your attention to this matter,” the city noted in its reminder to business owners.
With the September 30 deadline quickly approaching, Plantation is encouraging everyone to double-check their renewal paperwork, submit payments in advance, and ensure that their contact and licensing details are current.
