BCPS brings together students and industry experts at a major aviation expo designed to inspire the next generation of aerospace leaders

Broward County, Florida – Broward County Public Schools is preparing to open the runway toward future aerospace careers with its upcoming Aviation Expo, an event designed to spark curiosity and guide students toward opportunities in one of Florida’s most dynamic industries. The District is bringing together high school students, educators, industry partners and community groups for a hands-on experience aimed at showing how aerospace and aviation careers continue to grow in demand.

The Expo, set for Friday, December 5, 2025, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater, where a sprawling outdoor setup will turn the venue into a temporary hub of activity. Exhibits, equipment displays, and interactive demonstrations will be placed throughout the space, giving students the chance to explore aviation from multiple angles — from engineering to flight operations to emerging technologies reshaping the industry.

According to the District, the purpose of the event is clear: “The BCPS Aviation Expo introduces students to careers in aviation, aerospace and related industries.” Organizers say they want to move beyond the typical classroom setting and create an environment where students can interact directly with the professionals who work in these fields each day. That includes representatives from airlines, technical programs, colleges, training academies and companies specializing in aviation technology.

Another important goal of the Expo is to encourage interest in STEM education. As stated in event materials, “The Expo is intended to engage students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by highlighting high-demand careers in aviation and presenting a range of postsecondary and workforce pathways available to them.” By showing students how STEM concepts are used in real-world aerospace settings, BCPS hopes to strengthen the connection between academics and future jobs.

Industry experts and postsecondary institutions are expected to play a major role, offering demonstrations, answering questions, and guiding students toward programs that reflect their interests. Display aircraft and equipment stations will also be available for close-up exploration, allowing students to see the machines and tools used in daily operations.

The District emphasizes that the event aligns closely with its long-term career readiness goals. As explained by BCPS leadership, the Expo supports “the District’s commitment to preparing students for high-skill, high-wage and high-demand careers.” By bringing students face-to-face with aviation and aerospace professionals, organizers believe the experience will strengthen students’ workforce awareness and help them plan next steps after graduation.

The Aviation Expo is coordinated through the BCPS Career, Technical, Adult and Community Education Department, which oversees the District’s many CTE initiatives. With the support of aviation partners and community stakeholders, the event aims not only to inform but also to inspire — encouraging the next generation to see themselves as future pilots, engineers, technicians, air traffic specialists or innovators in the rapidly evolving aerospace world.

As the District puts it, the Expo is about “promoting career exploration, workforce readiness and postsecondary planning,” all of which remain key priorities for BCPS as it prepares students to take flight into their futures.
