Pine Crest Middle School students earn national recognition for creativity in ExploraVision STEM competition
Pine Crest, Florida – Students at Pine Crest Middle School are earning national recognition for their inventive ideas after participating in the ExploraVision competition, a prestigious STEM program sponsored by the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA). The contest challenges students to imagine and design future technologies, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration across multiple disciplines.
Among this year’s standout participants, Juan Yoshikay, Colette Fischer, and Austin White earned an Honorable Mention for their project as the Developing CMPP Team. Their achievement highlights not only technical skill but also the team’s forward-thinking approach to engineering design, a quality central to the ExploraVision program.
In addition to the Developing CMPP Team, other Pine Crest teams brought creative solutions to life as part of their engineering coursework. The Interstellar Gas Station Team, composed of Masha Kuznetcova, Liam Kahn, and Remy Sager, explored ideas for fueling spacecraft in future deep-space missions, combining scientific knowledge with imaginative problem-solving.
Another group, the Omni-Cloud Smart Pillow Team, featured Ariana Khatchikian, Megan-Kay Alexandre, and Payton Greco, who designed an innovative sleep aid capable of integrating technology to monitor and enhance rest. Projects like these demonstrate how middle school students are thinking critically about everyday challenges and imagining technological solutions that could shape the future.
ExploraVision is designed to push students beyond traditional classroom learning. Participants must research current scientific principles, forecast future technological developments, and present their ideas in a way that is both compelling and practical. The program emphasizes collaboration, teaching students to work effectively in teams while developing communication and presentation skills that are essential in STEM fields.
For the Pine Crest students, the competition has provided a unique platform to showcase their creativity and engineering aptitude. Their work reflects the school’s commitment to fostering innovation from an early age, encouraging students to combine imagination with practical problem-solving.
“Congratulations to all of our Middle School engineers for their creativity and dedication to innovation,” school officials said, celebrating the accomplishments of every team.
With recognition from a national STEM competition, these young engineers are gaining invaluable experience and confidence, reinforcing the idea that innovation begins with curiosity and bold thinking. Programs like ExploraVision not only highlight student talent but also provide a glimpse into the future of science and technology, as imagined by the next generation of thinkers and inventors.
For Pine Crest Middle School, this achievement underscores the impact of hands-on learning, mentorship, and a culture that nurtures the ideas of tomorrow’s engineers today.
