Davie, Florida – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is inviting residents and community members to take part in a public workshop focused on the future of the Flamingo Greenway Trail. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the ongoing feasibility study and share feedback on possible improvements along State Road 823/Flamingo Road in Broward County.

The public workshop will take place on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, and will focus on the proposed trail improvements between NW 202nd Street and the New River Greenway. FDOT officials said the meeting is designed to give residents information about the project, explain the study process and collect comments from people who live, work or travel in the area.

Community members will have several options to participate. FDOT will host both a virtual meeting and an in-person workshop on the same day, allowing residents to choose the format that works best for them.

The virtual public workshop will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Participants can join using a computer, tablet or smartphone after registering online. Once registered, attendees will receive a confirmation email containing a link to access the virtual event.

The online meeting will begin with a formal presentation about the Flamingo Greenway Trail Feasibility Study. Following the presentation, FDOT representatives will hold a question-and-answer session, with comments and questions addressed in the order they are received.

Residents who prefer to participate by phone may listen to the workshop by dialing 877-568-4108 and entering the access code 133-129-498.

An in-person workshop will follow later that evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Town of Southwest Ranches Town Hall, located at 13400 Griffin Road in Southwest Ranches, Florida.

The in-person session will include the same presentation provided during the virtual workshop. After the formal presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to review project materials, speak directly with FDOT staff members and ask additional questions about the proposed trail improvements.

FDOT officials are encouraging residents, property owners and other interested individuals to participate in the process. Public input is considered an important part of transportation planning because community feedback can help identify concerns, priorities and potential improvements before future decisions are made.

Comments and questions about the Flamingo Greenway Trail Feasibility Study may also be submitted in writing or by email to FDOT Project Manager Modeline Acreus. Written comments will be accepted throughout the study process, but they must be received or postmarked by Friday, July 31, 2025, in order to be included in the official public meeting record.

The Flamingo Greenway Trail project is part of FDOT’s efforts to study possible transportation improvements that support connectivity and mobility throughout Broward County. The feasibility study will examine potential options and help determine future steps for the proposed trail corridor.
