Pembroke Pines, Florida – Pembroke Pines is set to welcome players of all ages and skill levels to the 10th annual Mayor’s Chess Challenge, a much-anticipated event celebrating both strategy and community spirit. Scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025, the event will take place at the Pembroke Lakes Golf Club 19, located at 10500 Taft Street.

The Mayor’s Chess Challenge is a free, family-friendly event that invites everyone—from complete beginners to seasoned chess enthusiasts—to come out and enjoy a morning of fun, learning, and connection. Elected officials, city leaders, and members of the community are expected to participate in the friendly competition, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and mentorship.

The city of Pembroke Pines will host the final stop of a regional chess tour that spans over 19 cities. Chess has long been linked to the development of critical thinking skills, patience, and problem-solving—all of which are valuable both inside and outside the classroom.

“There will also be a no stress rookie section for anyone who wants to have fun, make friends, and get better at chess,” organizers said. This special section is perfect for those who may be new to the game or simply want to enjoy a more relaxed experience.
