City of Pompano Beach and CRA to hold special meetings to review and vote on major downtown redevelopment plans

Pompano Beach, Florida – The City of Pompano Beach, along with its Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), is preparing to take critical steps toward reshaping the heart of the city. On Wednesday, May 14, a series of Special Meetings will be held at City Commission Chambers, 100 W. Atlantic Boulevard, to discuss and vote on several items tied to the long-anticipated Downtown Master Development Project.
The evening will begin with a Special Joint Meeting between the City Commission and the CRA at 6:00 p.m. This session will serve as a presentation on the overall Downtown Master Development Project. While no decisions will be made during the joint meeting, officials will share detailed plans and provide updates on the progress of the project that aims to breathe new life into downtown Pompano Beach.
Immediately following the presentation, two separate sessions will be held to consider important resolutions and financing strategies. The Special CRA Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. or shortly after the conclusion of the joint meeting. That will be followed by the Special City Commission Meeting at approximately 6:45 p.m., depending on when the CRA session ends.
During these meetings, four major items will be up for vote. These include the First Amendment to the Master Development Agreement and a resolution from the CRA. On the city side, resolutions and ordinances related to funding options will also be presented.
City leaders are expected to vote on how to finance the construction of a new City Hall building, a central piece of the downtown project. This includes potential approval of the CRA Infrastructure Bond, which would help fund public improvements. The Master Resolution to approve the conceptual design for City Hall and additional project elements will also be under consideration.
“This is an important moment for Pompano Beach,” said city staff. “The decisions made here will guide the next phase of development and will directly affect the appearance, functionality, and services of our downtown for years to come.”
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend or follow the meetings, as the redevelopment of downtown Pompano Beach could bring significant changes to the community’s landscape and public resources.
