Eight high-achieving seniors from Broward County Public Schools receive full scholarships through the national QuestBridge program

Broward County, Florida – Eight outstanding seniors from The College Academy at Broward College in Davie are celebrating a life-changing achievement—each has been awarded a full four-year scholarship to a top-tier university through the highly competitive QuestBridge National College Match program.
These students, part of the Broward County Public Schools system, have secured scholarships valued at more than $300,000 each. The awards will fully cover tuition, room and board, and other expenses at some of the most selective colleges in the country. Their accomplishments place them among a select group of high-achieving students across the nation recognized by QuestBridge for their academic excellence, resilience, and leadership potential.
The 2024 QuestBridge scholars and their future universities are:
• Amelia Bartley, Boston University
• Bianca Cadet, Boston University
• Aselah Davy, Swarthmore College
• Thania Dervilus, Boston University
• Sebastian Garcia Gutierrez, Pomona College
• Isaias Posada Rios, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
• Shaliyah Rose, Washington & Lee University
• Tyler Scott, Rice University
“This remarkable achievement by our College Academy students is a powerful testament to their hard work, dedication and the exceptional educational environment fostered at The College Academy at Broward College,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “We are incredibly proud of these talented young scholars and the bright futures that lie ahead for them.”
The College Academy at Broward College is a dual-enrollment high school that provides students with the unique opportunity to earn their high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree simultaneously. The program is designed for motivated and academically driven students looking to accelerate their education and prepare for success in higher learning.
QuestBridge, a national nonprofit organization, aims to connect high-achieving, low-income students with leading universities through scholarships and mentorship opportunities. Over the past three decades, the organization has helped more than 40,000 students gain admission to partner colleges with total scholarship awards exceeding $5 billion.
For these eight Broward County students, the recognition is more than a scholarship—it’s a gateway to world-class education, new communities, and countless opportunities. Each recipient will soon take the next step in their academic journey, supported by their schools, families, and the broader BCPS community that helped them get there.
Their stories serve as a source of inspiration not only to their classmates and teachers but to students across the county who dream of accessing higher education. With dedication, support, and a clear vision for the future, these scholars have turned their dreams into reality.
