West Palm Beach’s artlife program launches new local artist initiative featuring unique public art installations across the city

West Palm Beach, Florida – The City of West Palm Beach’s Public Art Program, ArtLife West Palm Beach, has unveiled its third iteration of The Commons, an exciting initiative designed to bring local art into public spaces. Titled The Commons: 5 Artists 5 Spaces, the new collection is now open for the public to enjoy and experience. This year’s theme, “Endless Summer,” highlights the creative talent of five local artists, each bringing their unique perspective and style to five different locations across the city.
The initiative encourages local artists to step out of the confines of their studios and engage directly with the public through temporary, site-specific installations. These installations are on view at locations throughout the city and offer an interactive way for the community to engage with art. In addition to the installations, ArtLife has partnered with the Mandel Public Library to host free workshops, providing a further opportunity for artistic engagement with the community.
One of the standout works in the Endless Summer collection is by Quimetta Perle, whose piece, “Let Me Bring You Something Beautiful,” is on display on the fourth floor of the Mandel Public Library. This installation features an original poem that has been transposed onto a series of eight textile works. Perle’s work invites viewers to reflect on the beauty and significance of the written word, as well as its visual presentation. In addition to the installation, Perle will be hosting a Fabric Collage workshop for adults on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1 – 3:30 p.m., encouraging participants to explore their own creative expression through fabric art.
Mei O’Malley’s contribution to the project is equally compelling, offering a dynamic immersive comic series titled “Endless Summer.” This series captures young adult characters exploring West Palm Beach, diving into the essence of summer reading with vivid illustrations displayed at two locations in the Mandel Public Library. O’Malley will also present at the Mandel Fan Fest, hosting a panel on Creating Characters on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 3 – 4 p.m. This is a chance for fans to dive deeper into the creative process behind her characters and the themes explored in her comic series.
In addition to these installations, Gregory Dirr presents “Canopy Realm,” a garden fairy tale inspired by his work The Big Book. His whimsical creation invites children and families to explore a magical world filled with fantastical flora, mischievous cats, and otherworldly creatures. Canopy Realm is located in the courtyard outside City Hall, offering a space for families to immerse themselves in the wonders of Dirr’s imagination. For a hands-on experience, Dirr will lead a Fantastical Sticker-Making workshop for tweens on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., and will also be part of the BAM (Books, Art, Music) Festival on April 11, 2026.
Another artist featured in The Commons initiative is Allan Creary, whose “Endless Summer Pop” installation brings the vibrant energy of West Palm Beach’s summer to life with a Pop Art style that reflects the city’s dynamic atmosphere. Located in the Urban Living Room near the library’s front entrance, this piece encourages viewers to connect with the colorful, energetic vibe of summer in the city. Creary will also be hosting a Pop Art Postcard workshop for all ages on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 1 – 2:30 p.m., where participants can create their own Pop Art-inspired postcards to take home.
Lastly, Milena Arango’s “Ocean Echoes” installation is a stunning tribute to nature and the surrounding waterways. Set in Jose Marti Park, Arango uses mixed media to evoke the fluidity and movement of the ocean while exploring humanity’s deep connection to water. Arango’s work serves as a poignant reminder of the environment and the need to protect our natural resources. She will host an Introductory Crochet Workshop for all ages on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 1 – 3 p.m., providing a creative opportunity to learn a new skill while connecting with nature.
The Endless Summer exhibit is a fantastic opportunity for both locals and visitors to experience the vibrant art scene in West Palm Beach. This public art initiative reflects the city’s commitment to fostering creativity, engaging the community, and providing access to art for everyone. With a diverse range of artistic expressions and interactive workshops, The Commons: 5 Artists 5 Spaces promises to be an enriching experience for all ages.
